PIPA Compliance Facilitated by Duncan Card of Appleby Global
Duncan’s presentation will explain both the historical origin of Bermuda’s data protection law and why Bermuda’s privacy law (Personal Information Protection Act, 2016) predominantly (but not exclusively) follows the structure and content of Canada’s Provincial and Federal (PIPEDA) privacy laws.
The fundamental principles of privacy rights protection and administrative prescriptions under PIPA will be summarized, and organizations’ rights to qualified exemptions from the application of PIPA will be discussed.
