DESCRIPTION:Mr. Sam Scimemi\, Director\, International Space Station Division at NASA Headquarters\, Mr. Bill Wrobel\, Director\, Wallops Flight Facility\, and an accompanying delegation\, will visit Bermuda to officiate at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the NASA Tracking Station at Cooper's island. \n\n\n\nThe Chamber is pleased to host a lunchtime presentation on Monday\, 5 November 2018 featuring these distinguished visitors. Mr. Scimemi will share information on NASA's current and future space exploration\, with a focus on the International Space Station and how Bermuda supports these activities. Mr. Wrobel will provide a high-level view on the role the NASA tracking range as Bermuda supports the launches of Antares and of the upcoming SLS/Orion plans for deep space exploration. \n\n\n\nBermuda and NASA enjoy a productive partnership that dates back decades back to the beginning of the Apollo lunar program in the 1960s and the ongoing collaboration is critical for current and future NASA spaceflight operations. Now\, as then\, the Government of Bermuda is helping make possible new advances in space flight. In the near future\, Bermuda will play a role in NASA's Space Launch System\, which is currently in development.\n\n\n\nNASA recognizes its fruitful cooperation on the Cooper's Island mobile tracking station\, which provides excellent support for NASA spacecraft while furthering local Science\, Engineering\, Technology\, and Math (STEM) education objectives. They are also pleased that Bermuda has actively participated in NASA's Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program since 2014 and hope to expand the program further.
