Preparing for the New Reality

 

The past few months have brought unprecedented uncertainty, complexity and change to businesses in Bermuda and across the globe. As the COVID-19 curve starts to flatten, many governments are cautiously talking about their plans for reopening their economies. The reality is that until a viable treatment or vaccine for the virus is developed and widely distributed, we may need to face a world where living with COVID-19 is the new norm.  Any efforts to reopen economies with likely be slow and inconsistent, with governments needing to balance their desire to drive economic recovery against the safety of their populations and the very real threat of a second wave of infection.

 

While we may all yearn for a return to some normality, evidence suggests that the crisis has already fundamentally changed the way that we do business. In the wake of the corona virus, while some businesses may thrive, many others will struggle to survive and simply planning to go back to the way things were is not a viable option. The picture of the new reality under COVID-19 remains unclear.
